@00:29yeh tell me about it. I have been catching up with a ton of messages recently, cranking them down from 3000 to 500...nearly finished. Things are good. I've been in an animation studio for nearly a year now, do various character animation, storyboards and designs. Beats the hell out of 'regular' jobs for sure. How are things with you?

VU football. done for my reel and other cases. i have more to do, but of course.... i'z haz to do other folks' work. this was getting fun but i'm stopping. probably get back to it on a day i feel my best. please enjoy this as i enjoyed animating it.

basically was going to be a football game. my VU characters vs a bunch of supernatural footballers. have so many ideas i gotta put on the back ends. i really REALLY can't wait to start working with other animators this year. i'm a noob but i would so work my best. here's to my year and yours of course. (toasts with a glass of warm milk)

@00:07The timing here could slow down even more, to give more tension of the kick and clearly show the shock on the boy's face.

Thank you; I learned much more about timing after doing storyboards though. Timing is everything and I had to be hyper aware of that, especially when working on a show with comedy/action.

hmm. i use ones and twos a lot. sometimes threes when i'm being cheap or when the character isn't moving from a spot. hehe

Great motion. However, don't be afraid to hold your expressions for longer, they should pass slow enough for the fresh eyes of the audience to absorb the thought process of the characters acting.

i was wondering about my timing. thanks. will do. some of the parts i hesitated on with speed. the expressions being the lesser, but the action towards the end felt too sped up now that i look back. glad to here some advice on this. helps

no doubt, it looks great. The way you combine traditional elements with flash techniques works great. Sometimes however, it's just tricky to see what everyone else will see when you're spending so much time investing in each frame, when you hit play you already know what's in between the motion and can anticipate.

yeah. it's tricky. i'm getting better at seeing it with new eyes sometimes, but still need to work on it. you have any advice on that angle? i sometimes take big breaks and come back. plus i have a talent for erasing my mind so that comes in handy too. guess i should hone that.

:icondirtydre:

you said it, take breaks. Ask other animators and non-animators to watch it and see what they think. I don't recommend screening stuff with family because they'll always be "so proud of you!" that you won't get an objective answer. Though the other side of that coin is if your can manage to make a slightly disconnected older audience understand all of the beats and motion, chances are everyone else can read the images properly too. You're dope, there's no questioning that, we all just need a second opinion sometimes.
